Welcome to Cooking Heart Smart where we are dedicated to Recipes and Meal Plans that are specifically designed for cardiac patients.

Because many heart patients also have Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, or High Cholesterol, other Risk Factors that Affect Your Heart are considered when creating recipes and meal plans.

Because Meal Planning should not be that hard, every Recipe and Meal Plan includes Nutrition Facts and Food Groups.  Most importantly, it gives you confidence that you’re managing your diet needs.

Our mission at CookingHeartSmart is to help cardiac patients make meal planning and cooking that is fun, easy, and stress free with our Heart Smart Meal plans that focus on low sodium, low cholesterol, and low saturated fat.

Every Recipe and Meal Plan focuses on the Daily 4, and no, not the Lotto game…lol.  The Daily 4 (D4) are the foundation for creating balanced meals that support heart health and diabetes.  The D4 nutrients to focus on are Saturated Fat, Cholesterol, Sodium, and Carbs.

By focusing on only four nutrients you can easily control your diet and feel confident that you are taking care of your heart so your heart can take care of you!

Hello, my name is Tonia and I am a survivor of a cardiac event just like millions of you.  I am so thankful to the amazing doctors that diagnosed my extreme heart failure.  

I was also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to participate in Cardiac Rehab where I learned a lot about my condition and what changes I needed to make to take care of myself.

Cardiac Rehab was my Inspiration to create CookingHeartSmart.com
