Hello, my name is Tonia and I am a survivor of a cardiac event just like millions of you. I am so thankful to the amazing doctors that diagnosed my extreme heart failure.
I was also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to participate in Cardiac Rehab where I learned a lot about my condition and what changes I needed to make to take care of myself.

Foundation of Heart Smart Meals
Low Sodium, Low Saturated Fat, and Balanced Carbs are the foundation for creating recipes and meals that support heart health. I do include Diabetic Carb Counts and Food Groups for those of us that have Heart issues and Diabetes.
Nutritional recommendations are based on a compilation of data from the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and the U.S. Dietary Guidelines (2015-2020) for Adults Age 51+. Carb Counts are based on the American Diabetes Association “Complete Guide to Carb Counting“.
Nutritional Information is based on my own database. That data source comes from the Nutrition Facts Label from the food brands themselves. This database is updated frequently.
