If you love caramelized onion on your steak, you will love this recipe. Cooking the onions in a slow cooker gets dinner on the table without much effort. I have also added fresh mushrooms to the onions with great success. For a delicious variation, just add 6 cups sliced mushrooms and slow cook with the onions.

Slow Cook the Onions
Place all the onion ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook on high for 6 hours. Stir a few times during cooking process.
Grill the Steaks
1-2 hours before you are ready to grill, sprinkle seasoning on both sides of steak. Refrigerate steaks uncovered.Preheat grill to medium-high.Cook steaks on hot grill for 2-3 minutes per side. Check for doneness.Rare: 115°F - 120°FMedium Rare: 120°F - 125°FMedium: 130°F - 135°FMedium Well: 140°F - 145°FWell Done: 150°F +Let steaks rest for 5 minutes.
Plate and Serve
Top each steak with the caramelized onions and serve.
