This slow cooked pork is so delicious and versatile you will want to keep this Master Freezer Mix handy every month. Tender chunks of pork cooked with basic ingredients that allow you to change the flavor profile very easily from Asian to Latin to everything in between.
Our version reduces the sodium by more than 500 milligrams per cup by using sodium free chicken bouillon plus we reduced the salt in the original recipe from 2 1/2 teaspoons to just 1/2 teaspoon.
Makes 10 cups.
Freeze for up to 6 months.
Add bouillon granules to water. Stir to dissolve and set aside.
Stovetop:
Heat a stockpot or large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add pork cubes. Cook until lightly browned, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add onions. Cook and stir 10 minutes or until onions are translucent.
Sprinkle flour over pork mixture. Cook and stir about 1-2 minutes until flour is absorbed.
Sprinkle salt and pepper over pork. Add dissolved bouillon and stir to coat pork mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 2 hours or until pork is tender. Remove from heat. Cool.
Package for Freezer:
Ladle cooled pork mixture into five 2-cup freezer containers. Label with date and contents. Store in freezer for up to 6 months. Makes 10 cups.
