Each month we feature a book or magazine as inspiration for creating our Heart Healthy Menus and Meal Plans. For the month of May we are featuring Taste of Home magazine recipes where some of the recipes have been adapted. As always, our Mission is to make meal planning that is fun, easy, and stress free. Be sure to click the “Menus” button to get this months recipes and the “Weekly Meal Plan” button to get great ideas for make-ahead meal options.
Taste of Home has been around since the 1990’s publishing a monthly magazine in addition to several specialty books. I have to say that Taste of Home is one of my favorite magazines and always look forward to reading the newest edition. I have been receiving this magazine since 1993 when my aunt gave me a subscription as a Christmas present. Over the years I have also added many of their Annual Books and Specialty Books. Many of the recipes are from home cooks like me and feature “comfort foods” which is what I like best – easy to make with simple and affordable ingredients. I have adapted many of their recipes over the years to follow the foundation for CookingHeartSmart. All of our Recipes and Heart Healthy Meal Plans are Low in Saturated Fat, Low Cholesterol, and Low Sodium.
We hope you enjoy the recipes we chose for this month’s meal plans. Be sure to let us know what you think – the good, the bad, or the ugly so we can continue to improve and provide you with the tools and information you want.
